Why volunteer? There are many reasons - volunteers believe in a cause, want to make a difference, like to meet new people, or broaden their resume and/or life experience. Our volunteer program offers the opportunity to work with others who share your love of history and historic preservation.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life, and you don’t need a history background. The only requirements are curiosity, enthusiasm and a dedication to learn and share what you’ve learned with others. Click here to sign up today

Assisting visitors on Ellis Island?
- Volunteering to help us tell the story of Ellis Island through education and public programs dedicated to the issues of migration and public health?
- Contributing your time and skills to an organization that you believe in?
Save Ellis Island is enlisting the support of individuals and groups interested in working toward the rehabilitation of Ellis Island and for its future. In the last year volunteers have contributed more than 3,000 hours in support of our mission.
