Volunteers enable us to move forward on our mission of rebuilding and putting to reuse the buildings on the south side of Ellis Island. You can help our efforts to save this national treasure by volunteering your time and talent for this challenging task. Whether you have very little or lots of time to give you can help make a difference.
There are many interesting volunteer opportunities with flexible scheduling in Our Gladstone office, on Ellis Island or from your home. We offer flexible scheduling, virtual volunteer assignments and many interesting opportunities for our volunteers.
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Administrative help needed in Save Ellis Island’s Gladstone, NJ office
- Work directly with a staff person as an assistant
- Help with general administrative duties (logging press clippings, filing answering the telephone)
- Assist with special mailings
- Data processing
- Online research from your home or our office
- Research the history and importance of Ellis Island and the immigrants who traveled through it
- Research funding opportunities
- Special events on Ellis Island requiring volunteer support
- Some of the events hosted by Save Ellis Island include fundraising dinners, tours for distinguished guests, sponsor hosted volunteer clean-up days. We will give our members the first option to volunteer at these events. If you would like to become a member, join today.
- Writing and editing informational materials
- Grants applications, brochures, newsletters
