Meet Carole Limata, Author of Ellis Angels and Tour the Un-restored Ellis Island Immigrant Hospital
June 24, 2017 on Ellis Island at 1:30 p.m.
Carole Lee Limata, RN, MSN will host a reading and book signing of Ellis Angels, followed by a tour of the un-restored immigrant hospital, the setting used for the book!
Ellis Angels is the heartwarming fiction story about the compassionate nurses of Ellis Island, the ladies-in-white, and the loving care they gave their immigrant patients at Ellis Island Hospital in the 1920s.
The newly-arrived immigrants are facing enormous physical and emotional challenges after their long sea journey. If unable to pass medical inspection, they were admitted to Ellis Island Hospital for treatment and further evaluation. During her orientation, Miss Angie, a nurse recruit, learns the routines of both the Registry and the Hospital. As she begins working with the medical and nursing staff, the nurses and doctors of Ellis Island Hospital discover ways to help their immigrant patients follow their dreams. In the process, they achieve their own American Dream as well.
This is Carole’s first book which was soon followed by Angles on the Move the continuing story of Ellis Angels. Carole knows a thing about nursing as she worked as a Registered Nurse at New York City’s Metropolitan Hospital and then at the City’s Premature Nursery Center at Elmhurst Hospital before moving to Northern California. Throughout her forty-year nursing career, Carole worked as a Staff Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, Maternity Instructor and Nursing Director. She retired from her final position as Supervisor of the Screening Programs at the Kaiser Permanent Genetics Department in Oakland, CA
